Longboarding is fun too!
“It’s screaming for attention” is the quote on Vice magazine about Camden Town, that made me want to visit it again and witness it with my own eyes. So, I got transferred to the town of …”too much”! A euphemism that fairly belongs to Camden Town, and its punk, Goth, hippie or emo crowd. The music history that made the place famous is still loud, but mostly through the extravagant facades and decorations used by the local traders in order to keep the old glare alive… The ugly truth? You will love it if you are looking for cult figures or hate it if you are a lover of the oldies! It’s up to you, but if you want a deeper insight have a look: http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/camden-town-twinned-with-hollywood-gold-discs

That was the route we had to follow, from the house we were staying at the surf spot, for three days in a row, in case we could surf some not so good waves! Regardless the size of the waves, we really enjoyed it!

Yesterday’s Session!
The summery period has just started along with the never-ending list of music festivals and small gigs that take place, the one after the other, around London -thank God the time has come! Talking about this joyful period, I couldn’t keep a secret the place that keeps me updated on the music calendar and which I visit every week as I find it very relaxing at the same time. The credits go to the bespoke, independent “Rough Trade” records store, which has a long history that’s going back 30 years -check it online if you fancy because it will take too long if I post it here, sorry guys. What I can share with you for sure, is that you will be surprised of what you can find in its several music sections, that will probably bring up your childhood/teen memories - maybe the first kiss?- and you will definitely discover much more! You can choose from iconic vinyls, cassettes and cd’s, as it caters to everyone’s taste. And if you feel that you are getting lost in the music corridors, then you can treat yourself a coffee/cake from the in-store bar, while you are reading the free presses and sometimes books they give away for free. Oh, I was about to forget that they also organize free in-store exclusive concerts so you can easily pop in and meet a band that you haven’t listened to before (I just realized that “free” works a lot in that place). I love places that give you plenty of choices- never get bored of them!

Vacation! #1
Call it a “toilet revolution” or just be happy because the big taboo of drinking coffee in a toilet has been now collapsed! Whatever the celebration, I am glad to introduce you to the “Attendant”, the Victorian gent’s toilets that turned into a tiny gourmet cafe in the Fitzrovia neighborhood. At first, it probably sounds awkward that you are having your breakfast or lunch in the original porcelain urinals, but the cozy atmosphere and the smell of the renowned and tasteful coffee, cakes and home baked bagels blow away all your doubts! Don’t forget: we have to get used to this kind of innovative attempts as it’s part of the ongoing trend which requires businessmen to stand out from the usual -boring- types of coffee shops and the big chains you can find in London’s streets! To be fair, everyone is talking and writing about this place from the day it opened, and thankfully they weren’t exaggerating at all! So, keep an open mind because we don’t know what is coming next…

PICK ME UP! Not in the literally way pleaseeee! I am talking about the ongoing graphic arts festival which takes place in Somerset House- too central. Actually, it is a celebration that gathers the best illustrators, graphic novelists, cartoonists and graphic designers from around the world. So much colour, and faces that leave their own mark and it wasn’t just once that i caught myself saying “hey i have seen that there, blah, blah”. Amazing designs that sometimes you can’t be bothered to find out who is behind, but now everything is solved! But the story doesn’t stop there, as you can enjoy several workshops and events, as well as talks, performances and much much more!! Unfortunately, I didn’t have the chance to see all of these things live as I had the “inspiring” idea to start my day too early today. So, it was something like “first chair”. On the other hand, I grasp all these creativity and imagination to keep me active for the rest of the day!
